Classic Everest Base Camp

This trek is completed over 12 days allowing time for steady acclimatisation, as you weave your way up the different valleys ascending through Sherpa settlements such as Namche Bazar, Thangboche, Locboche to reach the great heights of Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar at over 18,000ft.

Full Everest Base Camp Experience

Complete ascents of both Kala Patthar and the magnificent Gokyo Ri (17,575 ft) above Gokyo Lakes for incredible panoramas of the Himalayan chain. Gokyo is located on the west side of the Ngozumpa glacier, which is the largest glacier in Nepal and reputed to be the largest in the whole Himalayas, adding a wonderful extension onto the Classic trek.

This in addition having time to explore hidden monasteries, local schools, a visit to the Edmund Hillary hospital and school in Khumjung and Khunde and the rarely visited villages of Thame and Thamo following the Bhote Kosi river.

Maybe you want to do something a little different, perhaps taking in some higher passes giving you a more technical experience? There are many possibilities so don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can create an itinerary to meet your needs.

What accommodation do we use during the trip?

Kathmandu offers a vast selection of Hotels from bespoke Boutique Hotels such as the wonderful Shambala near the US Embassy, 5* Palaces (Shrangrila, Yak and Yeti) to simple Guesthouse accommodation, the choice is yours. Choose between high end lodges of classical teahouses whilst on trek.

How difficult is the walking?

This trip is graded as strenuous with all the Hikes taking between 8 – 10 hrs. Your mountain leader is exceptionally experienced at managing trekking groups and will ensure there is ample opportunity for taking photos, visiting teahouses / monastries and enjoying the flora and fauna of the Himalayas.
