Absolutely one of the best highlights of this trip are the incredible outdoor Sauna’s located at each mountain hut. Very much part of the Swedish ethos, the hut warden explains how it all works, and then its over to you! Session’s typically are Women 5 – 6:30pm, Men 6:30 – 8pm, Mixed 8 – 10pm. You utilise the hot water generated from the wood burner to wash yourself, then can cool down in the adjoining stream! Swedish people traditional do not wear any clothes in the Sauna, however if preferred a bathing suit is completely acceptable. Its not uncommon also to see people enjoying a cold beer in the Sauna and having a good old chat with their fellow hikers; a perfect way to relax after a great hike!
