Tour du Mont Blanc

June 28th – July 7th 2019 

The Tour du Mont Blanc is a ‘world class trip’ hiking through three countries; France, Italy and Switzerland over 10 days. Located in the Alps you will experience breathtaking scenery from glaciers, to historic towns, alpine meadows and mountain passes this trip really does have it all! Each country has its own uniqueness from language, food, architecture and local identity we will cross each border on foot hiking across mountain passes guided by one of our excellent leaders.

Tour du Mont Blanc Highlights

Day 1 – Chamonix – Bionassy FRANCE

Day one of our trip sees us hiking along the Grand Balcon with far reaching views of the Mont Blanc massif and the Bosson Glacier. 

Day 2 – Bionassay – Les Contamines FRANCE

Hiking initially through forest, then alpage we have great views of the Gouter Ridge and the Bionassay and Miage glaciers, before descending to the small town of Les Contamines.

Day 3 – Les Contamines – Les Chapieux FRANCE

A rugged day as we climb out of Les Contamine on an old Roman Road ascending to one of the remotes areas of the trip; the Col du Bonhome and Col du Croix du Bonhomme. It is not uncommon to see a large bird of prey: The Bearded Vulture or ‘Gypeate’ in French.

Day 4 – Les Chapieux – Courmayeur ITALY

On route to Italy today! Our pass today is the Col du la Seigne and this is actually the border between France and Italy. Breathtaking views back over the Italian side of the Mont Blanc massif as we descend to Courmayeur for Gelato and and Italian delights.

Day 5 – Courmayeur – Spa day / Optional Hike / Relax  ITALY

Today is a rest day and we give people the opportunity to visit a Spa in the near by village of Pre Saint Didier, simply rest in the beautiful town of Courmayeur or for those with energy still to burn an optional hike. 

Day 6 – Courmayeur – Ferret SWITZERLAND

A spectacular climb departing Val Ferret sees us reach our high point for the day: ‘Col du Ferret’. This is the border with Switzerland and perfect place for lunch between two countries! We descend passing the small farmstead of Le Peule, before reaching the valley floor.

Day 7- Ferret – Champex-Lac SWITZERLAND

Today affords us a more gentle hike as we meander through many beautiful small Swiss Villages before ascending up through the forest to reach Champex-lac.

Day 8 – Champex-Lac – Trient – Tres la Champ FRANCE

Today we cross the border for the last time as we hike from Switzerland back into France with incredible views towards Mont Blanc before descending into the Chamonix Valley.

Day 9 – Tres la Champ – Chamonix FRANCE

Our final hike todays sees us complete our journey on the Tour du Mont Blanc as we finish the circumnavigation of the Mont Blanc massif. A well deserved celebration dinner in Chamonix

Day 10 – Depart  to WHERE YOUR HEART DESIRES!…

2 x nights in 3* central Courmayeur Hotel
